Vybrid VF6/VF5 System On-Module,

The Emcraft Systems NXP Vybrid SOM LC is the cost-optimised version of the Emcraft Vybrid System-On-Module, available in two power- and pin-compatible variants:

1) The VF6 SOM LC module makes use of the NXP Vybrid VF6 dual-core ARM processor (Cortex-A5 at 500MHz and Cortex-M4 at 167MHz) and provides 512MB DDR3, 512MB NAND Flash and on-board 10/100 Ethernet PHY. This part is ideal for various commercial, industrial, HMI, and real-time applications.

2) The VF5 SOM LC module makes use of the NXP Vybrid VF5 ARM processor (Cortex-A5 at 500MHz) and provides 256MB DDR3, 256MB NAND Flash and on-board 10/100 Ethernet PHY. This part specifically targets cost-sensitive Vybrid applications.

Emcraft develops and maintains a software distribution for the Vybrid SOM LC, including a Linux BSP (Board Support Package) for the Cortex-A5 core, an MQX BSP for the Cortex-M4 core, the MCC (Multi-Core Communication protocol) and a Yocto-based cross-development software environment.

LCD Vybrid SOM LC Starter Kit

 


The LCD Vybrid SOM LC Starter Kit provides a hardware platform enabling development of Vybrid applications using the Emcraft VF6 / VF5 SOM LC module. The kit includes the folowing items:

  • VF6 SOM LC module
  • Development baseboard (LCD-VF6-SOM-BSB)
  • LCD add-on board with LCD panel (4.3" 480x272 LCD with capacitive touchscreen)
  • Mini-USB Y-cable for USB-based power and serial console.

All materials are equally applicable to both the VF6 SOM LC and VF5 SOM LC modules, even if titled as "VF6 SOM LC". Whenever differences between the VF6 and VF5 variants are important, the documents explicitly explain any such differences.

Software

 

Software Release

 

Emcraft supports Linux as an operating system for the Vybrid Cortex-A5 processor core and MQX as an RTOS for the Cortex-M4 processor core.

All Vybrid LC System-On-Modules come preloaded with Linux and U-Boot. Full source files of U-Boot and the Linux BSP are provided for free download, along with the Linux distribution and cross-development environment. Both U-Boot and Linux are royalty-free.

Warning: This release targets only the VF6 SOM LC 3A and VF5 SOM LC 3A module variants. Do not install this release to the other Vybrid SOM variants!
